3. Why does Katniss feel torn in the end?
~ Katniss feels torn in the end because the boy with the bread is slipping away from her. I think towards the end she realized that she does love Peeta. ~ They connected many tubes to her body. They removed all of the scraches and scars. The place where she burned her calf seemed like it never happened. 2. What does Haymitch reveal to Katniss before she sees the crowd?
~ Haymitch reveals to Katniss that the Gamemakers are very angry at her. She made a fool of them. ~ A wolf half dog bread is what Katniss describes. Then when a specific mutt is jumping at her she knows what they are. The Capitol has made a new creature. She sees the green eyes, the same as Glimmer's and then she realizes that it is Glimmer. She then looks at all of the other mutts. Foxface, the boy from District 9 and worse of all, the small dark one, Rue! The mutated mutts are all of the tributes who have died.

2. How does Katniss use her last arrow?
~ Katniss uses her last arrow to finish off Cato. She shoots Catto to stop his suffering. She didn't want to hear him wine anymore. I think she actually helped him out by taking him out faster and less painful than the mutts bites would have been. That is how Katniss uses her last arrow.

3. What happens when the Gamemakers revoke the rule change?
~ Katniss and Peeta don't want to kill eachother just to win. So what they do is they stick poisonous berries in their mouth and they plan to swallow on three. Then the Gamemakers say that they both win so they could have victors. They then take out the berries from their mouths and try to take anything that is left of the berries and spit everything out. That is what happens when the Gamemakers revoke the rule change.

She said if it wasn't for the berries Foxface would have easily outsmarted Cato. That is how she feels about Cato.

3. How do the final three meet up?
~ Peeta and Katniss headed for the lake suspecting Cato already there. Then out of a sudden, he came running straight nfor them. Then Katniss shot an arrow at his stomach, but it bounced off. Later on they realized that he wasn't running at them. He was running away from someone or something, but what could it be. They then later find out it was a pack of mutated mutts.

2. Who is left in the arena?
~ Katniss, Peeta, Cato, and Foxface are the only ones left. Toward the end of the chapter though, Foxface dies from eating poisonous berries. She had gotten them from the cave of Peeta and Katniss. They would

4. What happens to Foxface?
~ She was poisoned by berries that Peeta had left in the cave. Peeta had gathered berries while Katniss went off to hunt. He thought those berries were the same ones that Katniss had given him. When the cannon shot and they picked up Foxface's body, Peeta was surprised. He didn't know what or who killed her, then Katniss held out the berries to him as an answer.

Clove barely gets a chance to cut Katniss' lip when Clove is pulled into the air.  It was Thresh, the boy tribute from District 11.

3. Why does Thresh let Katniss go?

Each backpack contains things that will help them survive.

~ Haymitch sends Katniss some special syrup. The syrup makes people fall asleep. Katniss gave it to Peeta, but she didn't give it to him alone. She gave it to Peeta so he could fall asleep and she could go to the feast.

2. What is Peeta's true talent?
~ Peeta's true talent is camouflage. He camouflaged himself with mud and plants. Katniss said forget about the weights. ~ First she removes his clothes. Then she helps him into the shallow part of the stream. After she puts some of the medicine that she recieved for the burns she puts it on his wounds. Then she takes off the

5 How and why do they get the pot of broth?
~ They get the pot of broth from Haymitch. Haymitch sends them the pot because Peeta and Katniss kissed. They acted like they were in love. She finally understands Peeta when he said that he wanted to show the Capitol that he wasn't a piece in the game when they were talking on the roof.

4. What rule change do the Gamemakers announce? ~ The Gamemakers made a rule change. The rule change was if the both tributes from the same district survived and were the last ones standing, then they would both win. I think this rule change was made for the star-crossed lovers from District 12. They probably wanted Peeta and Katniss to face the other districts together especially Cato. That was the rule change that they had announced.

Chapter 16
1. What is Katniss' offensive attack?
~ Katniss' offensive attack is to first go and find the Careers supplies. Then she is going to go and destroy them. To do so, she uses only three arrows. She aims the arrows at a bag that contains apples. On her third shot she realeases the apples. When the apples fall to the ground, BOOM! She blew up the supplies by letting the apples fall to the ground hitting the mines that surrounded them.

2. In what ways are the Careers at a disadvantage?
~ The Careers have always been well fed. They don't know how it is to be starved like Katniss knows. They can't survive without their supplies because they can't hunt. They never had to. They never needed to.
3. What important information does Rue provide?
~ Rue tells Katniss that the Careers are hiding by the lake. They have all their supplies there stacked up in a pyramid. The boy from District 3 is left to guard their campground. He is left with a spear to fend off any enemies. Rue also tells Katniss that Peeta isn't in the Careers anymore.

4. What is Rue's favorite thing? How does this connect to Katniss?
~ Music is Rues most favorite thing. She sang with the mockingjays back home in District 11. This connects to Katniss because her father had a great voice. The mockingjays used to stop singing to hear him. They would also sing with him sometimes.
5. Why can't Katniss get to the bounty of supplies? How is she able to destroy it?
~ Katniss can't get to the supplies because there are many mines surrounding it. The boy from District 3 renabled the mines. She destroys the supplies by gradually making the sack of apples rip. When the apples fell on a mine it triggered all the other mines. Then there were no more supplies for the Careers.

1. Who forms an alliance with Katniss?
~ The girl tribute from district 11 forms an alliance with Katniss. Her name is Rue. Katniss asks her to be her ally because Rue helped her with the tracker jackers. Also Katniss thinks she is good enough to be alive anyways. Also because Rue reminds Katniss so much of her little twelve year old sister, Prim.
2. How does this alliance benefit both parties?
~ This alliance benefits both parties because Rue helps Katniss heal her tracker jacker stings with some leaves that Rue found. Rue also knows a lot about agriculture so she knows what plants and fruits to eat. Katniss helps Rue because Katniss can hunt for the both of them. Katniss also gives Rue some of the medicine that her sponsors gave her to heal her wounds.
3. What are some differences between District 11 and District 12?
~ District 11 is an agricultural district, while District 12 is a coal mining district. At first Katniss thinks her district is the most strict district of all, that is until she finds out about Rue's district. District 11 is really strict. They don't let them eat any of the agriculture. If they do eat it they get whipped in front of everyone. In District 12 their is hardly any whipping because the mayor of district 12 isn't that strict as the district 11 mayor.

~ " ' You know the boy from my district? Peeta? I think he saved my life. But he was with the Careers.' ' He's not with them now,' she says. 'I've spied on their base camp by the lake. 3. What does Katniss get from Glimmer's body? Why is this so important to her?
~ Katniss gets the arrows from Glimmer's body. This is important to her because shooting arrows is her strongest skill. She learned how to shoot arrows from her father. This gives her an advantage because she can shoot from above. That is why the arrows are important to Katniss.

4. What does Peeta do when he finds her?
~ Peeta gets upset with Katniss. He tells her that she should have been running by now. She should have been hiding by now. He tells her to leave because the remaining Careers were going after her. ~The Cornucopia is a huge gold horn with a curved tail. In the Cornucopia lies various weapons and things that will help them survive. The Cornucopia is in the center of the arena. The Cornucopia is 20 feet tall.
2. How does Katniss make it into the woods? What weapons does she choose? Why?

Then when she starts running to the woods the girl career tribute throws a knife at Katniss. The knife strikes the bright orange backpack, then she continues to run as far away as possible.

The Hunger Games~ Ch.10

Chapter 10
1. Why does Peeta reveal his love for Katniss? Do you think he really loves her? Why or why not?
~ I think Peeta reveals his love for Katniss so more sponsors will want both of them. Also because their will be more "drama" in the hunger games. Yes, I do think Peeta really loves Katniss. I think he loves her because whenever Katniss talks about Gale, he always insists that he is her boyfriend. I think he gets jealous whenever she mentions Gale.

2. What is Peeta's main concern during the hunger games?
~ Peeta wants to die as himself. He doesn't want to turn into something he is not like a monster. When the time comes he says he will kill. He won't go down without a fight. He wants to show the Capitol that they don't own him.
 3. How does the Capitol view the previous arenas of the hunger games? How many games have there been?
~  The arenas are historic sites. They preserve them after the games. They are popular destinations where people from the Capitol can come and vist or vacation. They can go for a month and rewatch the games, tour the catacombs, visit the places where the deaths took place. You can even take part in reenactments. There has been 73 Hunger Games not including this one.

4. What do you feel is the purpose of the hunger games?
~ I feel that the purpose of the hunger games is just to show the districts that the capitol has power over them. It si so the Districts can be scared of them.

Important Quotes

~ " 'You're all they're talking about. The star-crossed lovers from District Twelve! ' says Haymitch. 'But we're not star-crossed lovers!' I say. " (135)

The Hunger Games~ Ch.9

Chapter 9
1. Describe Katniss' interview attire and training? What affect do you think it had on the audience?
~ During training they didn't go to the weapons section. They didn't go to the sections that they were good at. They didn't go to those sections that they were good at because they didn't want the other tributes to know what their greatest skills were. They just stuck to the sections like were they taught you how to tie a rope. Katniss' dress had many gems on it. With all those gems on it it made her dress look like it was on fire because it sparkled a lot. The audience might have liked her dress a lot because it looked like she was on fire the same way she was at the opening ceremony.

2. How does Haymitch and Cinna ask Katniss to behave?
~ They both tell Katniss to act the opposite of how she feels. They tell her to make it seem like she likes the people from the Capitol even though she doesn't. They say when the interviewer asks her a question to look at the audience and to find Cinna. She answers to Cinna. That is how they tell her to behave.

3. What do we discover about Peeta during his interview?
~ We discover that Peeta likes Katniss. We also discover that he thinks that Gale is her boyfriend. Also that all the guys back home, in District 12, like her to. She is shocked because he caught her off guard. Then she feels embarrassed.
Important Quotes
~ "I noticed he rejected the invitations from the Career Tributes to join their crowd." (126)
~ "And then they're calling Katniss Everdeen, and I feel myself, as if in a dream, standing and making my way center stage." (127)
~ " ' Handsome lad like you. There must be some special girl. Come on, what's her name?' says Caesar. Peeta sighs. ' Well, there is this one girl. I've had a crush on her since I can remember. But I'm pretty sure she didn't know I was alive until the reaping.' " (130)
~ " 'She has another fellow?' asks Caeser. 'I don't know, but a lot of boys like her,' says Peeta. 'So, here's what you do. You win, you go home. She can't turn you down then, eh?' says Caesar encouragingly. 'I don't think it's going to work out. Winning . . . won't help in my case, ' says Peeta. 'Why ever not?' says Caesar, mystified. Peeta blushes beet red and stammers out. 'Because . . . because . . . she came here with me. ' " (130)

Tribute Trial

~I lost the tribute trial. My percentage was 91%. I could have done things differently like have gotten more allies.

Chapter 8
1. What do the scores in the trainings mean to the tributes? What scores do Peeta and Katniss receive?
~ The scores mean how good they are at something. Like Katniss showed her special skill which is shooting an arrow. Peeta showed the Gamemakers his greatest skill which is carrying heavy things. Peeta recieved an eight. Katniss recieved an eleven.

2. How did Katniss and Gale meet? Describe their story.
~ They met when Katniss saw a dead rabbit hanging from a tree. Then Gale springed out and said, "That's dangerous." Gale was only fourteen then, but he was six feet tall and was as good as an adult. Then he said "Well, Catnip, stealing's punishable by death, or hadn't you heard?" Then Katniss said her name louder beacause she thought he heard it wrong and made it clear that she wasn't going to steal it. Then he saw her arrows and then he smiled. They just talked about hunting, but as they got closer they became friends.

Hunger Games ~ Ch. 7

Chapter 7
1 What are the pros and cons of Peeta and Katniss being coached together?
~Some of the pros are they might find out the things they are good at. A con is that they use their weaknesses against eachother. But if they train together they can help each other with eachothers weaknesses. One of the pros is they could become allies and work together to kill the other tributes. Those are the pros and cons that I think they would have.

2 What reasons does Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better than him in the arena?
~He said his father loved the squirrels she hunted down for him because she doesn' shoot the body. His father likes the fact that she shoots it in the eye and never misses. He even says she can hunt and kill a deer. Also that his mother said that Katniss will come back being the winner.
3.What are Career Tributes and how are they a threat?
~Career tributes are the tributes who train ahead of time so they could win the hunger games. They are a threat because they already know how to play the game.  They know how to handle deadly weapons. They now how to defend themselves. They have already figured out where to hide and how they are going to play the game.

4 What does Katniss do to get the Gamemakers' attention?
~ When it is Katniss' turn, the Gamemakers seem kind of bored. They are not paying attention because she is the second to last tribute and they are tired. Plus, they might also be distracted by the pig that was being brought in. She got angry so she threw an arrow in their direction. It peirced the apple in the roasted pigs mouth. Then it went through the apple and into the wall.
Important Quotes
~"So lets get down to business. Training. First off, if you like , I'll coach you separately."  (88)
~"People will help you in the arena." (91)

~"One last thing. I want you by each other's side every minute."(92)
~"Not that Haymitch and Effie are fighting anymore. Instead they seem to be of one mind, determind to whip us into shape." (99)
